History: Dwarves

Usually pictured as short men with beards, dwarves have a stockier build than other similar species(elves) and prefer a good wrench or hammer to work with. Their stocky physique is not just for show for each dwarf can lift up to three times its own weight with a little help from their own brand of magic. Dwarves are famous for inventing some of the most clever magical instruments and can learn to build complex things in a matter of hours. Their habitat is usually speckled out on the tops of hilly mountains where they like to make use of the space to grow edible flowers, berries, herbs and/or veggies on the tops of their houses, patios, gardens and fields. You'll find it hard to find a dwarf hut that doesn't have farm fresh produce blooming from its rooftops down to ground level. 

Throughout magical history dwarves have had a bit less to do with humans/magi than other species and a big reason is due to their highly cautious and reserved nature that keeps their noses out of troublesome magi business.
