Merry Wishes and Happy Holidays 2025

This year is winding down and the holidays are upon us. Thinking about all the things that's been going on in the world things seem to be bleak and sad in many places. You never know what a person could be going through even though outwardly everything seems to be okay. The weather has been lovely here on the west coast. We usually have no rain during the summer but this time there was just a little. Our rainy season will start very soon and I have a feeling we can look forward to another full season of rain. Hopefully we're in for a calm but wet one. We must remember that rain is a blessing from the earth and heavens and we must be thankful for it though too much would be detrimental to us if we're not prepared. Too little and we will dry up which is just as bad.

After the covid pandemic, which still is impacting us in many ways whether you're sick or not, we've had some disastrous weather events that no one was expecting to happen. Off the top of my head I think about hurricane Helene which walloped parts of the south and they are still feeling that one I'm sure. Neighborhoods were torn down and many were left without a place to go back to at night. I know that I like the soothing sound of rain, the icy white of snow and the wind which carries with it the wonderful smell of nature but our way of life up to now cannot withstand these heavy storms.

Is it time to start thinking about building more storm proof houses? Maybe certain areas would be better off left alone instead of occupied by humans.

Mental health has been an issue that has been more talked about lately. It is not anything new that humans struggle mentally and emotionally with life's challenges. It is easy to fall prey to one's emotions and problems yet it is just as difficult to open up about it. People deal with all kinds of problems and we never know what a person could be going through. They may be sick and this will have a toll on them not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well. They still have to get up in the morning and many work despite the difficulties. The American dream is largely based on being able to work and working enough to be able to buy all that one desires. Yet not everyone is able to find or hold onto a job that is good enough to enable them to do this.

It's time to think about things like multigenerational(multiple generations) and slow living(where people slow down and learn to enjoy life instead of working through it). Instead of getting through college and finding a high-paying job isn't it more important to find a job one enjoys and can see themselves doing for the long-term? Finding a job isn't as hard as finding one that suits you and one that you love. Why is there so little support for people after graduation? It may take months or even years before a person can actually find a job they'll love doing. I hope all the parents out there realize that even if their kid does not find a good job that's enough for them to buy their own house and car it doesn't mean they are hopeless or stupid. Sometimes it takes people longer to find what they love to do and be able to do it for a living. Your kid(s) may have reached adulthood but that doesn't mean things will just fall into place like people are expecting it to. Just know that if you support them even after college when they aren't able to quite stand on their own yet, it will mean a lot to them and they will love you more for it.

Well I'm not speaking for all those who are unemployed but you know if your kid is trying hard enough but not able to obtain what they want versus someone who is just lazy and doesn't care.

Getting a job should not be the deciding factor for a person's worth. The economy may be in a very bad shape or there just isn't one available that they can see themselves doing full-time. Learn to adapt to the times and help the people you want to be there for you when you're old and gray. Things are constantly changing and we must learn to see the change and work with it. I don't know if human society will ever be a utopia but when there are people still suffering, sick, homeless, hungry and in great need it is obvious we have a long, long way to go before we can say our society functions the way it should. Food, shelter and clothing are basic needs for everyone yet why does it seem like we are working so hard just to obtain these things. Shouldn't these things be free? The earth does not charge humans rent in order for them to be born and live on it.

I'm not saying everything should be free and quite far from that actually but when it comes to survival and comfort I believe that as long as one is willing to live a healthy and happy life they should not have to work hard for these things. With that said I'd like to wish all my readers a very happy holiday season and I hope we enjoy this time as much as we usually do, if not more, whether we can pay the rent or not.
