movie review: sabrina(1954)

the good. The movie Sabrina was filmed in 1954 and is about a young woman named Sabrina Fairchild. From a humble background, her good-hearted father takes care of the very wealthy Larrabee family's luxury cars and is the family's chauffeur. The two sons of the extremely wealthy family, Linus and David Larrabee, live like princes who are absolutely lavished with wealth and popularity. Quite the opposite of how the cute, child-like and rather homely Sabrina lives with her father as servants, though they live comfortably on the family's large estate. At first they overlooked her as a plain Jane not worth paying much attention to but as the movie progresses, they begin to see her in a new light as she matures and becomes a captivating, young woman. This story is pure fantasy along with other elements which is one of the main reasons I want to review it on our blog.

This story is a Cinderella story with a modern-day, American spin to it. Stories like this have become a classic which wasn't always the case throughout history. It is quite amazing how such a story tugs at the heart and just doesn't get old. It makes you want to watch it again and again with those you love and by yourself. Almost everything Sabrina does and even down to how she feels about things just makes a person like her more. Though humans continue to go through much change(technology, business, fashion, way-of-life), there are things that shouldn't and Sabrina Fairchild was, is and will continue to be loved as the decades go by. It's a film that people of all ages can watch, enjoy and learn from and that is what makes a movie a big hit. Not overly sexual, creepily strange or unnecessarily violent, Sabrina(1954) is a clear-cut story with beautiful characters that makes a person wonder, "now why aren't we all like this?"

the cons. a little too short! also it's in black and white

the rating. 9.2/10
