History: elves
Elves are one of the most used species in fantasy. What is it that draws people to them? Is it their cute, child-like height and demeanor or the fact they seem to be so useful when it comes to house chores and magic?
It's hard to say when elves came into existence like a lot of other mythical creatures but they have been around before folklore became popular. Like children who do not become adults, elves are short and thin. They are fast, nimble and their magic is to be reckoned with, especially when they are in a large group and/or join forces with other similar species(dwarves). Rather unlike dwarves who prefer open and high spaces to settle down on, elves build their tree houses and cabins into the shade of tall forest trees or woodsy honey holes. Elves take care of their young and defend their species fiercely from intruders. It is well-known that elves often may partner with humans who know magic and that is because these creatures have an adoptive tendency where they may accept others into their circle, even if they are of a different species, if there's a bond formed between them. Time and time again elves have been dragged into wars and rebellions among magic users but they are not violent by nature and prefer to resolve conflicts peacefully. A warning to those who wish to continue using these small, powerful creatures for destruction, the elves and those alike learn from the past and will not concede to such treatment for long. There are reports from magi who have maintained a close relationship with leaders of these species that there is a growing number moving back into their wild, magical habitat and a dwindling number remaining to partner and stay by the side of magi human owners.
